Castle Bempt

chât bemptThe name Bempt is derived from the word ‘Bennelt’ who means ‘wet meadow’.  Bempt was probably the seat of one of the six lordships of the community Moresnet.  This construction in rubble stone is from the early 17th century. The castle consists of a rectangular main building between two wings built in right angles.  The castle is surrounded by moats and accessible via a stone bridge.
